In order to understand this tree it would be necessary to make reference to the habitat or ecosystem that propitious the birth and development of the tree herself. That special habitat has determined its personal characteristics.
The surroundings are resembled a sentence, its roots anchored in pure limestone rock and the climate that suffers is extreme. In summer, it subsists to total sun supporting the highest temperatures, without receiving a drop of water during months.
Days and days in which it evens costs to breathe, the air burns and the ground still more. Later rains come, always little rains, and without warning the cold winter, when the water between the cracks becomes frozen by the nights, breaking rocks and roots. This station also is synonymous of wind, an almost constant wind of “tramontana” that goes to whip implacably.

The beginning of my relation with this tree starts more or less fourteen years ago in the house of my good friend Vicente Rodriguez.
Vicente is the proprietor of this wonderful Majorcan Ullastre that finished recovering and that began to appear with force. This encounter was going to mark my experiences in this fascinating world of Bonsai.
It was necessary to confront the challenge to decide the destiny of the tree, its style and personality. It was in a wood drawer knocked down as crawling supported on its back part.
All and each one of the options that I had suggested to Vicente supposed to cut parts of the ullastre, however, I proposed to seed it in semi cascade being respected to the maximum whatever offered the unit. Thus, I remain, for that reason today they show aerial roots in its back part, that they are the original ones of its seeding.

With one of the incipient buds of the superior part, we created the apex and the hanging branch was partially replaced by other to give more movement to it. Time and good care made the rest. As it was growing, I was creating the ramification and selecting the branches. The wires help to direct and oriented the movements that the tree suggests.
The certain thing is that if I have let myself guide by what the tree was suggesting. I have tried with more or less success to interpret the magic that transmits, looking for to harness its virtues and forgetting its multiple defects. Thus, it is as I see the Bonsai, with generosity, respect and mainly fleeing from practices it so common between many fans to emphasize in the first place the defects of any tree.
All the trees have imperfections but solely we paid attention to them or we are not able to assume this imperfections as own attributes we will never arrive at the essence of the tree. This way you learn to appreciate them, to give the best of your and to grab the best from them.

Really, my work has consisted of putting me to the service of the tree through the contemplation, admiration, devotion, respect and love.
